Why was Duavee discontinued?
Pfizer voluntarily recalled two batches of Duavee––marketed as Duavive abroad––from U.K. shelves after identifying faulty packaging that may have reduced the drug’s efficacy, the U.K.’s Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) said Monday.

Does Duavee help lose weight?
Weight gain and loss aren’t side effects of Duavee. And, these weight changes weren’t seen in clinical studies of the drug. However, unexplained weight loss may be a sign of cancer. And taking Duavee may increase your risk for certain types of cancer, including endometrial*, ovarian, and breast cancer.
How long should you take Duavee?
DUAVEE SHOULD BE TAKEN FOR THE SHORTEST TIME POSSIBLE AND ONLY FOR AS LONG AS TREATMENT IS NEEDED. You and your doctor or other healthcare professional (HCP) should talk regularly about whether you still need treatment with DUAVEE.
Will Duavee ever be available again?
No. There is currently no therapeutically equivalent version of Duavee available in the United States. Note: Fraudulent online pharmacies may attempt to sell an illegal generic version of Duavee. These medications may be counterfeit and potentially unsafe.

When will Duavee be available again 2020?
By analyzing the patents and regulatory protections it appears that the earliest date for generic entry will be March 10, 2027. This may change due to patent challenges or generic licensing.
Do you need progesterone with Duavee?
Well here you don’t need the progesterone and that may save you some side effects. Duavee pairs estrogen with Bazedoxifene which helps protect the uterine lining and breast against hyperplasia that may result from estrogen-alone treatment.
Do you gain weight on hormone replacement therapy?
Hormone replacement therapy boosts the levels of hormones lost during menopause. There is no evidence that HRT leads to weight gain or weight loss.
Is Duavee safe?
To be safe, Duavee (conjugated estrogens / bazedoxifene) shouldn’t be used for the prevention of heart disease. Warning signs of a heart attack include arm pain, chest pain, and a cold sweat. If you notice any of these symptoms, get medical help right away.
Is Duavive safe?
The CHMP also noted that long-term use of Duavive is associated with a risk of stroke and venous thromboembolism which is similar to the risk with conjugated oestrogens and bazedoxifene when used alone.
Does conjugated estrogen cause weight gain?
